Events The
Football Academy is taking applications for the 2010/11 season from
both male and female players. You can fill out an application form
online through the website. Training
sessions have been taking place over the last few weeks. We hope to
announce the 2010 intake shortly, so keep checking the players profile
page to see the new squad.
Congratulations!!
Well
done to Quentin Bromley, Chad Nicholls and Chadd Birch who have now completed their FA Level 1 coaching
badge. Other members of the squad will be starting their courses
shortly. Courses The
Academy players have completed their 1st Aid qualification which
will help them with any future coaching badges they may undertake, as
well as providing another qualification. In April they also completed
the introduction to referee's course with some of the squad now taking
that on to complete their first assessment level in refereeing.
Step in to Sport A
big well done to 10 of the Academy squad for starting their 'Step in to
Sport'
coaching courses with great reviews and feedback. The players have
started a qualification that will give them experiences in leading,
coaching and running sessions, while working with young people in the
local community. They have now lead some sessions with youngsters from
the local community and will continue to do so throughout the rest of
the academic year.
Cup Competitions
The
Academy were unfortunate to lose in the semi final of the West Midlands
Colleges Cup going down 3-0 to Solihull. It was a committed game and
the team put in a determined performance. A hard fought game saw
the team go out of the ESFA National Cup 3-1 To King Charles
School in the
3rd round, as well as reaching the Wolverhampton City cup 1/4 Final
before defeat to Wolverhampton Grammar School. The team will be
competing in all three competitions again next season. League Fixtures
We
have now completed the league fixtures for the 2009/10 season finishing
with a record of 8 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses scoring 63 goals and
acquiring 25 points. A successful first season in the league finishing runners-up. Well done
and thanks to all the players, and staff involved with the team this
year. Go to the fixtures tab to see who got the goals and all of our
results in more detail.
