About Us

The Football Academy at Our Lady St Chad Catholic Sports College was a programme launched in September 2009.
The academy has been put together with the aim of providing post 16 students with a unique opportunity to gain academic qualifications, whilst maintaining their interest in football. Students will get the chance to develop their skills and knowledge of the game through regular training sessions, league and cup fixtures, as well as lessons tailored to suit their academic requirements.

All students in the academy will be expected to fulfil their subject options as well as their football duties. They will receive support from the head coach, PE teaching staff and other staff within the school in order to gain the best possible experience from the 2 year period.
Further to this there will be extra benefits including:

• A BTEC National qualification in sports development and coaching
• Gaining coaching qualifications (FA level 1 & 2)
• Opportunities to work with and mentor younger students in the DTS, Talent ID, year group football and leadership programmes
• Qualifications in 1st aid and injury treatment
• Academy tracksuit
• Playing kit
• Regular access to the wellness system fitness suite

This new programme will reflect and enhance the high standards that we expect from all of our students, and the 2009 academy cohort will be at the forefront of a new era for our sports college!
