Department of English

English is vital for communication and here at Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Sports College, the study of this core subject is taken very seriously. The English Department is a devoted and thriving part of the school, taking an active role in ensuring that all pupils have the opportunity to flourish and excel in this essential subject.

The English Department is involved in many areas of school life. We collaborate successfully with both SEN and Gifted and Talented co-ordinators to ensure ALL pupils can both access and progress in English. The department is also involved in the school’s Leadership programme, enabling pupils to gain confidence and acquire leadership skills.

The English Department offers pupils varied and engaging lessons, to suit all learning styles. Our devotion to learning and achievement is reflected in our continued successes in KS3, GCSE and A’ Level examinations. We constantly strive to both repeat and improve these results, in order to offer pupils every success when leaving school to travel their chosen path.
